Lynette Cervantes Joins the Board of Directors of SYRCL

April 24, 2026

I am proud to announce my appointment to the Board of Directors of the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL).  Over 40 years ago, SYRCL's founders launched a grassroots effort to protect the South Yuba River from dams. This year we are celebrating 25 years of permanent protection for 39 miles of the South Yuba under California's Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. SYRCL's work is science-based and serves as a model for environmental stewardship through landscape-scale projects and partnerships including meadow restoration and forest health.  Among SYRCL's recent successes are the remarkable Chinook salmon returns, a direct result of the Upper Rose Bar Enhancement Project, and another landmark Wild & Scenic Film Festival

Watershed health and climate resilience are at the core of my conservation planning work.   I am excited to work with SYRCL toward achieving the vision: a Yuba River watershed that is healthy, free-flowing, and resilient to a changing climate.
